Australian Injury Prevention Network

The Australian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN) is a self-funded national body representing all-age, all-cause injury prevention and control in Australia . The AIPN is Australia's key professional body for practitioners, researchers, academics and allied professionals. It has a broad-based membership from all sectors of the injury prevention community, including health, transport, emergency services, crime prevention, education, planning and industry. The AIPN represents the interests of its constituents, encourages best practice in injury prevention and control as well as research and surveillance. The AIPN strives to promote knowledge of the causes of injury and safety promotion in order to minimise injury-related harm throughout Australia.

Monash University Accident Research Centre

The Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC), formed in 1987, is a multi-disciplinary research centre that specialises in the study of injury. It aims, through high-standard research and independent recommendations, to challenge and support citizens, governments and industries to eliminate serious health losses due to injury.

Primarily focused on generating new knowledge in the field of injury prevention, the centre also recognises the importance of nurturing the next generation of Australian researchers and policy makers, and translating research into policy and safer practice. MUARC has a strong postgraduate research program and maintains a dynamic interaction with the agencies and community groups involved prevention practice.

Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine

The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is a statutory body, created by the Coroners Act 1985, with the responsibility to provide forensic pathology, clinical forensic medicine and related services including tissue banking to the State of Victoria . Service to the coroner in the form of medico-legal investigations of reported deaths is a primary focus.

The VIFM is regarded as a world leader in forensic medical practice and teaching and is now further expanding its existing research program, where it hopes to use the mass of data collected over the last 20 years to facilitate research into forensic medicine, public health and injury prevention and control. The VIFM has an important role in conducting research and in providing professional expertise and information to a range of stakeholders both within Government, and to other organisations.
